Ten sentenced of digital abuse targeting Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has found guilty ten people for perpetrating the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.

The defendants faced allegations of circulating untruths regarding her sex and sexual orientation, in addition to posting defamatory statements about the husband and wife's age disparity of 24 years.

The court issued conditional custodial sentences of as much as eight months to the convicted individuals. The complete verdict has yet to be released.

A longstanding conspiracy theory claiming that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has existed since her husband's initial election in 2017.

This Monday's court decision in France coincides with the Macrons engaging in a libel case in the United States of America against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced analogous false narratives about the first lady's identity.

Their complaint contends that Owens ignored any factual proof disproving her claim opting to platforming known conspiracy theorists.

Owens has regularly repeated these allegations on her show and social media channels, and in March 2024 declared that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her belief that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.

Brigitte Macron first met her current spouse when she worked as an educator at his lycée.

The two tied the knot in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
