Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 years after the original Toy Story movie debuted, establishing the animation giant as a major animation studio and bringing viewers to iconic characters like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a brief look into the plot but keeping fans wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys
The preview reveals the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a latest plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser avoids is why Woody is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
At the very least, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. The clip shows the insignia pinned to her outfit.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.
